No prime minister has served out the full 3 year term as prime minister in recent times in Australia. Now former prime minister Malcom Turnbull is being replaced by Scott Morrison. In Australia the prime minister is chosen by people within the ruling party or ruling coalition. Since the Liberal party has the most control, which by USA definitions would be closer to a conservative party in terms of ideology, the people within the Liberal party choose the prime minister. Scott Morrison is a social conservative who opposed same sex marriage when the vote took place in Australia on whether same-sex marriage should be legalized. He also is in favor of strong border protections, among other positions.
