Democrat Richard Cordray is running for governor of Ohio, facing off against Mike DeWine (Republican), Constance Gadell-Newton (Green), and Travis Irvine (Libertarian). Richard Cordray is a 5 time Jeopardy champion, all victories of which came in 1987. Jeopardy is a television game show where people answer questions assigned a dollar value, and are potentially rewarded money if they are correct and penalized the amount if they get it wrong. This election is to replace John Kasich, the former Republican presidential candidate. He is term-limited, so he cannot run for governor this election. However if John Kasich wanted to run in the 2022 Ohio governor race, he legally can do so with current Ohio laws. The law in Ohio states that the term is limited to 2 consecutive terms.
DeWine and Cordray have faced off before in the 2010 attorney general election, where DeWine won 48% to Cordray’s 46%.
