Special voting booths for people with disabilities to be introduced in the Solomon Islands

International Affairs News

Chief Electoral Officer Mose Saitala confirmed a partnership between Solomon Islands Electoral Commission, Strengthening the Electoral Cycle in Solomon Islands Phase II, Solrice, and people who have disabilities. Solrice is a company in the Solomon Islands, owned by Australia’s SunRice, that is Solomon Islands’ leading supplier of rice products. To help spread information about this initiative, every 20 kilogram (about 44 pound) bag of Solrice will have a voter’s awareness leaflet in envelopes on the bags. People in the Association of People with Disabilities of Solomon Islands have been helping to put these awareness leaflets in the envelope.
